BOX STYLE · LOCK BOTTOM

Auto-lock and snap-lock bottom cartons.

These folding cartons close the base with interlocking flaps instead of a tuck flap, so they carry heavier products and stand square on the shelf. The two groups below differ in where the bottom is formed: glued at the converter, or folded by hand at packing.

Auto-lock (crash-lock) bottom · ECMA A60 · A61

32 templates

The bottom flaps are glued on the folder-gluer, so the carton is delivered flat and the base drops into place as soon as the carton is opened. It suits fast packing by hand or by machine. The top closure varies: tuck flap, full overlap, hang tab, claw lock and more.

Snap-lock (1-2-3) bottom · ECMA A55

25 templates

Four bottom flaps are folded in by hand, one after another, and lock against each other with no glue on the base. It needs no extra gluing step in production and suits shorter runs; it takes a few seconds longer to erect than an auto-lock bottom.

Before you cut a run

Folding cartons are cut from carton board, and the board thickness you enter changes the dieline. Settle the board grade with your printer first.

Agree with your converter whether the sizes are inside or outside dimensions before you send the file.
