CONSTRUCTION NOTES

About this construction.

Reading the code FEFCO 0300

The 03 series holds the telescope-type boxes: a tray and a lid, each made from its own blank, where the lid slides down over the tray to close the pack. A full telescope lid covers the whole depth of the tray; a partial one covers only its upper part. Two pieces cost more board than a slotted case but give a stackable, reusable box that opens from the top.

Within the series, 0300 is the design published as the Full Telescope Box, Tray and Lid. The four-digit code carries the full structural intent — specify it to any converter and both sides mean the same construction; only dimensions and board grade remain to be agreed.

How the case behaves

Each part is one sheet folded up into a tray: the end flaps wrap around the corners and are glued, stitched or taped to the side walls. The lid is cut to the outside size of the tray so it slides over it to full depth, giving four double walls and a double top and bottom. The lid carries an optional finger notch in both long walls.

Typical uses

Heavy or fragile goods that are lifted from the top: archive and document boxes, garment and textile boxes, shipping boxes for ceramics and glassware, and presentation boxes where a lift-off lid is part of the unboxing.

Dimensions and board

The parameters above — internal length, width and depth, plus any construction-specific values this style needs — drive the whole blank: panel layout, flap depths and slot positions all derive from them, validated against the template's supported range. The 2D dieline and the 3D fold preview regenerate together from the same parametric structure.

A corrugated dieline is a starting point for production, not a substitute for converter judgment: flute profile, board grade and joint style all affect final dimensions and crush behavior. Confirm tolerances and material with your manufacturer before mass production — and erect the structure on screen first, so flap collisions and proportion problems surface before any tooling is ordered.

Industries and applications

Converters cut the Shipping Carton (FEFCO 0300) for shipping and transit cartons, storage and archive boxes, and clothing, shirt and accessory boxes.

Shipping cartons are judged on stacking strength and the speed of closing on the packing bench.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Quick answers about this template.

What is Shipping Carton — Telescope Box, Tray and Lid?

FEFCO 0300 is the full telescope box: a tray and a lid of the same depth, each folded from its own corrugated sheet, with the lid sliding down over the tray to close the pack. The double walls make it the strongest of the common two-piece boxes.

Which dimensions does the Shipping Carton — Telescope Box, Tray and Lid dieline need?

5 parameters drive the blank: L (length), W (width), D (depth), H (height), Corrugated cardboard thickness (mm). Each value is validated against the template's supported range, and the whole dieline regenerates from them.

Can I see how Shipping Carton — Telescope Box, Tray and Lid folds before cutting it?

Yes. The interactive 3D fold preview and the 2D dieline are generated from the same parametric model, so the fold you watch on screen is the geometry of the sheet you cut. Open the template in the studio to fold it at your own dimensions; 3D folding comes with the Workshop and Line plans.
