CONSTRUCTION NOTES
About this construction.
Reading the code FEFCO 0301
The 03 series holds the telescope-type boxes: a tray and a lid, each made from its own blank, where the lid slides down over the tray to close the pack. A full telescope lid covers the whole depth of the tray; a partial one covers only its upper part. Two pieces cost more board than a slotted case but give a stackable, reusable box that opens from the top.
Within the series, 0301 is the design published as the Telescope Box with Slotted Tray and Full-Depth Lid. The four-digit code carries the full structural intent — specify it to any converter and both sides mean the same construction; only dimensions and board grade remain to be agreed.
How the case behaves
Both parts are cut like the ends of a slotted case: slots separate the end flaps from the side walls, and the flaps fold around the corners and are glued. Because the flaps only reach the corner, the walls stay single where the 0300 doubles them, which saves board. The lid runs the full depth of the tray and has an optional finger notch in both long walls.
Typical uses
Garment and footwear boxes, document and archive boxes, and shipping boxes for products packed from the top where a lift-off lid is wanted at lower board cost than the 0300.
Dimensions and board
The parameters above — internal length, width and depth, plus any construction-specific values this style needs — drive the whole blank: panel layout, flap depths and slot positions all derive from them, validated against the template's supported range. The 2D dieline and the 3D fold preview regenerate together from the same parametric structure.
A corrugated dieline is a starting point for production, not a substitute for converter judgment: flute profile, board grade and joint style all affect final dimensions and crush behavior. Confirm tolerances and material with your manufacturer before mass production — and erect the structure on screen first, so flap collisions and proportion problems surface before any tooling is ordered.
Industries and applications
Converters cut the Shipping Carton (FEFCO 0301) for shipping and transit cartons, storage and archive boxes, and clothing, shirt and accessory boxes.
Shipping cartons are judged on stacking strength and the speed of closing on the packing bench.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Quick answers about this template.
What is Shipping Carton — Telescope Box, Slotted Tray and Full-Depth Lid?
FEFCO 0301 is a telescope box whose tray and lid are slotted: each part folds up from one sheet with slotted corners and glued flaps, and the full-depth lid slides over the tray. It is the economical two-piece box for goods packed from the top.
Which dimensions does the Shipping Carton — Telescope Box, Slotted Tray and Full-Depth Lid dieline need?
5 parameters drive the blank: L (length), W (width), D (depth), H (height), Corrugated cardboard thickness (mm). Each value is validated against the template's supported range, and the whole dieline regenerates from them.
Can I see how Shipping Carton — Telescope Box, Slotted Tray and Full-Depth Lid folds before cutting it?
Yes. The interactive 3D fold preview and the 2D dieline are generated from the same parametric model, so the fold you watch on screen is the geometry of the sheet you cut. Open the template in the studio to fold it at your own dimensions; 3D folding comes with the Workshop and Line plans.
