PACKDROID ORIGINALS

Packdroid original templates.

Constructions designed by Packdroid rather than taken from a FEFCO or ECMA code. Enter the dimensions to generate the dieline and, where supported, inspect the fold in 3D.

What an original is

FEFCO and ECMA codes classify established constructions. A Packdroid original is a construction we designed for a job those catalogues do not cover, such as a bakery box with a built-in carry handle. It carries a PD code of our own, not a standard code, and no page in this family claims a FEFCO or ECMA classification.

Where an original borrows from a standard, the page says so. The twin-lid handle box, for example, stands on the ECMA B15.06 hook-lock tray: the tray allowances are the standard's own, and the lid and handle closure are Packdroid's.

How an original is checked

An original has no reference blank to compare against, so it is held by rules instead: the parts it inherits are tested against the promoted standard template they come from, and the whole blank is checked for crease spacing, hole margins, open ends and crossing lines over its full size range. The 3D fold preview comes from the same model as the dieline.

What no program can prove is left to a cut sample. Each original's page states what has been verified on paper and what still needs a white sample before volume production.

Before you cut

Treat the generated dieline as a tested starting point, not a guaranteed drawing. Confirm board grade, grain direction, crease tooling and the fit of every lock on a sample with your converter before ordering a cutting die.

If your product needs a standard construction instead, the FEFCO, ECMA, rigid-box and bag families are built on the same parametric models, so dimensions carry over directly.
